'Chocolate Prince' (Simchoca) - Silver Star of the City of Palmerston North 2001. A true chocolate hybrid tea from our own Nola Simpson. A strong healthy grower, the blooms attracted much attention - even from those who didn't like the colour much.

Hayden Foulds. Rose Breeding in New Zealand.
In recent years, Nola has released 'Chocolate Prince' (SIMchoka), a chocolate coloured hybrid tea bred from 'Princesse' x 'Tane'. It is being released overseas under the name 'Terracotta' (don't confuse it with the Meilland cut flower cultivar of the same name). A winner of the Silver Star and a Certificate of Merit at Palmerston North in 2001, it is perhaps the worlds first HT in this colour,

....Using 'Princesse' again with 'Hot Chocolate' has given us the latest selection, 'Chocolate Prince' (SIMchoka) (see Photo 4). This is the first true HT in the colour chocolate brown. It is very vigorous and healthy and the brown colour holds up well in the heat, unlike many other brown roses, eg 'Hot Chocolate' and 'Colourbreak'.
