Notes:
Russian nobility, claiming descent from the Volga-Finn Meshchera tribe who lived between the Oka and Klyazma rivers. The Mestchersky family is of Tatar origin and descends from Hussein Sherinsky, who was the Prince of Meshera (a region near Moscow between the rivers of Oka and Klyazma) in the 15th century. After the Russian revolution family members were in exile in Western Europe and had a villa in Nice.
"Lily" is said to be a nickname used by Princess Natalia "Natascha" Aleksandrovna Meshcherskaya.
