I have never seen Joyfulness on a rootstock and I wanted to try it, so I got an own roots which has been very disappointing. It arrived with most of the lower leaves removed due to fungal? I am not sure why and in spite of spraying with fungicide weekly proceeded to develop a hideous unknown leaf discoloration. And shows no signs of any new growth or new leaves that may come out. It may be a dead plant already. I can't tell if the plant is alive or not. I will post a photo.

Re Joyfulness 1984.
1982 or 1984?

It is 1982. Modern Roses has both dates. Maybe 1984 was when Tantau registered it. Cass, isn't the earlier date more relevant?

This is nice illustration of how excessive data collection does not contribute any real insight. As best I can tell, Tantau introduced the rose in 1982 under the name FROHSINN 82. The rose was subsequently registered with the ARS as 'Tansinnroh'. Modern Roses has given different dates for the registration. Modern Roses 10 and XI say 1984, while Modern Roses 12 says 1985. I'll check with the registrar to see if she knows whether the changed date is a correction or a typo.

To answer your question directly, Behcet, I agree that Joyfulness should be noted as 1982 to be consistent.
