It's blooming!! It's a second year own root plant and although it did literally nothing the first year, this year it has been putting on beautiful healthy new growth and is on a second bloom cycle. I have sentimental reasons for growing Just Joey so I don't mind putting in some extra effort. It actually wintered outside in the garden here in zone 4 with a lot of lost cane but has come back well. Charcoal chunks and banana peels added to the soil have helped with health. If anyone else is growing Just Joey in colder zones I'd love to hear what is working for you. Thanks!!

What are some differences between Just Joey and Brandy? I have a 2nd year Brandy here in Victorville (zone 8b) which in the summer gets up to at least 100 degrees every single day, often times having whole weeks with temps between 105 and 110.
And it does amazingly here. Its one of my favorites. My only complaint is that i wish it had a few more petals!

Hi! Can you share any information about what you do for winter protection? Also what soil type you have JJ planted in and how you fertilize, spray, etc? I want to try some zone pushing experiments next spring and I would love to be able to grow Joey if at all possible! Thanks!

Wow, what a wonderful rose this one is turning out to be in Z8 sandy soil no-spray. Huge blooms that stay gorgeous in the vase!
