Magazine  (1884)  Page(s) 159.

In New Publications:
Journal Des Roses (Aug. - Sept.) figures the following:...Rosa microphylla, a small-leaved species, of which the plate represents a variety known as the Old Purple (pourpe ancien) ; the flowers are of a bright cerise red paler towards the edges. Several other varieties of this interesting species are described.
Book  (1866)  Page(s) 197.

Rosa Microphylla
The original variety, Microphylla Rubra, is perhaps the best. Among others may be Carnea, Coccinea, Rosea, and Purpurea.
