Said to be subject to blackspot, but this rose is disease-free at all seasons in my coastal Southern California garden. The Blue-ish green foliage make a striking contrast with dark, blood-red blooms. Altogether an appealing garden rose.

2 May 2018, Livermore, CA. The petals fold in at night and are slow to unfold on cool mornings, giving an interesting, origami-like look.

Grown where it is not troubled by strong afternoon sun, blooms are long-lasting on the plant. The intense, black-touched red blooms form a striking spot of color.
