In Hortus Upsaliensis of 1666 [Olof] Rudbeck named "Rose flore albo simplex hort". In 1685 he also called it with the Swedish name Hwita Trägåls roser. 'Gudhem', and probably also the rose that Rudbeck described, are possibly identical to or very closely related to Rosa x alba, the original rose of the Alba group.... The DNA profile of 'Gudhem' is identical with 'Alba Maxima', Alba Suaveolens' and 'Alba Semiplena'.
