'My Valentine' rose Reviews & Comments

Description says this rose is "bushy, compact" and under 36" in height. Mine has shot up to at least 8 ft on one cane and intermediate heights with other canes. I did not prune the cane that has gone "tall". Beautiful, intense red. Second year, grafted.

You may have discovered 'Grande Amore Climbing' ;-)
Sometimes I've found the breeder size estimates to be way off for certain climates, but you might try propagating a cutting from that cane nonetheless.

My Grand Amore - 3rd year (on multiflora from Palatine) - is one of my taller hybrid teas. I'm in zone 5b and it will die back quite a bit over winter but come September it's 5 feet tall and some stems go beyond 5 feet. I would not describe Grand Amore as "bushy" - for me it's very tall and upright. Very good rose for me.

I just got this plant at a clearance sale at Lowe's, and it's been blooming non stop. Very resistant to Blackspot. Stays lush and sends out many canes. Easier than knockout. Rose is not fragrant but the color is stunning red and so is the rose form. Not affected by our 100 deg temps. Fast becoming my favorite plant.

Very pretty true red exhibition blooms. No fragrance. Upright taller narrow form. Not cold hardy at all in zone 5a. Died to the ground while a few other hybrid teas such as Beverly and Anna's Promise did not and had surviving cane. Great rose for zone 6 or warmer if you are not expecting any fragrance and want a showy taller narrow red hybrid tea.
UPDATE: rose appears to be completely dead after one relatively mild zone 5a winter.

I love this rose. Unusual color. Strawberry red or so. Great rose for the kitchen table.
