‘Mme. Jules Bouche’. Modern. Large-Flowered Hybrid Tea. White. Repeat Flowering. This rose can always be recognised by its zigzag growth habit, produced by the stems between each node turning to the left, and then to the right. The buds are slender and dainty and open to very large double flowers, with the centers of the blooms shading to pale blush. The strongly fragrant flowers open flat like a tea Rose and there are many overlapping petals like a camellia. Growth is tall and flower production is very high. There has been no reduction in vigor over the years. Zones 5-11. Croibier, France, 1911. ‘Pharisaer’ x seedling.

‘Mme. Jules Bouché’ Medium, white, remontant, Perfume 4 , Hips 1 [both on an ascending scale of merit from 1-10]. Both in Europe and America, plenty of surviving plants may still be seen of this 1911 introduction. It is a white rose, very slightly creamy, with slim flowers on slightly purple stems, the leaves light green. The flowers are easily spoilt by damp weather, and it survived that disadvantage by producing many of them. Bred by J. Croibier et Fils, Saint-Tous, Rhone, from ‘Pharisaer’ x seedling. There’s more than a hint of Tea Rose about it.
