'Hannah Hansen'. Bred in 1984 from Ken's most frequent breeding parents, 'Thornfree Wonder' and 'Veilchenblau', this rambler seems to fulfill all the requirements of an easy-grow rose. the blooms are mauve, double and appear in clusters on a vigorous rambler. The description is similar to many of the roses of this particular cross. They are invariably smooth stemmed and summer flowering. 'Hannah Hansen' blooms have been described as similar in shape to 'Raubritter' with petals that incurve gently upon each other. This rose I had feared was lost - but may not be!

Ken Nobbs: Another good seedling of the 'Tausendschon' x 'Veilchenblau' group is one named 'Hannah Hansen'. This celebrates New Zealand's oldest Pakeha family, derived from Captain Thomas Hansen of the Active. This is a late summer flowering plant persisting through to March with lovely incurved violet-blue blooms reminiscent of the shape of 'Rosa macrantha Raubritter'.
