[Letter of December 17, 1894 by Rudolf Geschwind on hybrid caninas]
...Already my first trials were crossings between Canina and Tea. Let us see what came out of it:.....
C. Mother Hybrid caninas, father various other roses....
2. Once-blooming...
Geranium (Canina-Tea x Hybrid Tea). Vigorous shrub, climbing, smooth wood, beautiful foliage, hardy in normal winters; suffered 1892/3. Blooms in clusters, large, double, flat cup form, crimson, often shaded darker, often glowing red, exceedingly fragrant; effectful rose; should finally not be less than Turner's Crimson Rambler.
