A recent hybrid is Sonia (Camellia when first offered), of Horvath, 1938. It is (R. multiflora x R. canina) x Hortulanus Budde. The plant is a hardy bushy shrub, with very light red semi-double flowers all season. It gives the effect of a semi-double Hybrid tea without fragrance.

Camellia is one of the loveliest of the Horvath Roses, an intercross of Rosa multiflora and R. canina, recrossed with Horvath's Improved Hortulanus Budde, thus producing a perpetual-flowering Rose of great beauty. The flowers are camellia-shaped, and a brilliant, sparkling cherry-red, shading to orange in the center; a hue not found among the Hybrid Teas. The growth is strong and hardy; the foliage green and healthy.
