I'm z7a, 5700 ft, high desert. It's not so much the heat as it is the sheer intensity of the sun that's an issue for roses here, so I'm always looking for petals that don't brown or blow immediately. Safari excels for me, holding a good form and looking lush until the moment the petals shatter completely. Of course it's also very pretty, apricot/copper quickly morphing into soft coral/salmon pink. My plant is still young but rebloom seems pretty quick, just a couple of weeks rest before new buds.

This is one of the best roses in my hot inland valley (CA) garden. It is a beautiful shrub--well foliaged with never any blackspot, which is a common problem here (I do not spray). In addition it is probably the best performer for continuous bloom, and that includes during prolonged spells of temps above the century mark. The bloom not only continues, but the roses stay beautiful and do not crisp or brown in heat! I love this rose! I have observed this rose in my garden for approximately 10 years now.

Thank you! This was very useful for me, I'm in the SFV. :) The reviews on the heirloom website were in zone 5 & 6. I was looking for how Safari would do in triple digit temperatures.

I planted my baby Safari about a month ago. Just got the first blossom. It is even more enticing than any of the pictures (which also look lovely). Very bushy already with lots of buds. I am pleased!
