This rose is listed only under 'Maid of Honour' with the English spelling of honour, but being an American introduced rose it uses the American spelling 'Maid of Honor' so properly should be listed this way, I suppose. I know that's just a spelling difference, but could this spelling please be added to the names, as I'd like to add some references and photos. Also, currently if you search for maid of honor nothing comes up, so it would be helpful to also have it listed under 'Maid of Honor' for this reason too. Thanks.

Thanks. It seems that most of the earliest references state that 'Maid of Honor' is a sport of 'Bridesmaid' and this appears to be how it was registered with the Society of American Florists. Also worth noting is that it was originally named and advertised briefly as 'Miss Clara Barton' but was changed because another rose had been registered with this name at the time, namely Dr. van Fleet's 1898 'Clara Barton'.

Parentage corrected to the earlier references, and Noted. Thanks HubertG.
ps - do you have a year for the Southern Nursery Co. reference?

No, that catalogue is undated. Someone has annotated "1917?" in pencil on the cover but I think that is way too late. It's probably closer to 1900 or a little after this judging by the roses in it. I'll have a closer look later on.
