Mountbatten (HARmantelle) Cluster-flowered/Floribunda. Harkness (UK) 1982. 'Peer Gynt' x [('Anne Cocker' x 'Arthur Be;;') x 'Southampton']... clear soft yellow, double flowers... Although it has won many awards, it has not become as popular as might have been expected. It was named after Lord Mountbatten, who was killed in a bomb blast in Northern Ireland.

Mountbatten (HARmantelle) Cluster-flowered shrub. Description. Flowers: yellow. Parentage: 'Peer Gynt' x [('Anne Cocker' x 'Arthur Bell') x 'Southampton']. Jack Harkness (England) 1982. Jack Harkness named this to honour his wartime commander (1900-1979), and to aid the charity SSAFA.

Mountbatten (HARmantelle) Cluster-flowered shrub... The raiser described it as his 'pagoda' rose, from the graceful way the flowers are borne at different levels on the plant... the first UK Rose of the Year, and winner of four Gold Medals. It honours the memory of Earl Mountbatten of Burma, 1900-79, under whose command the raiser served in the Second World War.
