Gartendirektor Ries, Hybrid Tea. (J. C. Schmidt-Erfurt, 1917.)
A seedling of the crossing of Pharisäer with Lyon-Rose, this magnificent rose is similar in growth and character to the very popular sort Pharisäer, while the blooms in form and filling are like Lyon Rose, only with the pleasant difference that these do not droop, but unfold their magnificence firmly on long stems. The colour of the blooms is pure pink with a silvery reflection, the base shining through yellowish. The petals are slightly reflexed at the edges, so that it resembles very much a bloom of La France in form and colour. This magnificent rose grows upright and vigorous like the seed parent, floriferousness and hardiness do not leave wishes open as well.
This sort will be very welcome to lovers of long-stememd roses.
Named in honour of the valued Chairman of the Society of German Roselovers.
Portius.
