Book (1935) Page(s) 16. Harry H. Hazlewood. The New Roses of 1935. Max Krause, the new German raiser, is responsible for Marianne (1933), which is described as somewhat resembling 'Rev. F. Page-Roberts' in colour, but with more red in it and more upright growth. Here the petals are coppery-carmine on outer face, with pale old gold fading to lighter at edges on the inner surface. There is far too little yellow in the bloom to suggest. 'Rev. F. Page Roberts', though the growth and foliage certainly suggest it slightly. The bloom is not attractive on present performances.
