Louis Philippe is a beautiful variation of the original Tea Rose, scarcely at all hybridised, but with larger and more double flowers of the most delicate blush.
Book  (1836)  Page(s) Section 2, p. 41.

Louis Philippe. magnificent, good fragrance.
Outer petals almost white, towards the center increasingly flesh-coloured, often pink. She blooms outdoors, in the sun and air. In the glasshouse often white, only shaded pink, Tea fragrance, often 3 1/4 in., very double, semi-globular closed; or she becomes elongated and forms a knot. Grows and blooms exuberantly and in different ways, but is always one of our most beautifuzl everblooming roses.
