AARS 1988, only 6 "favorites" and no comments. That really does speak volumes. Once again I smile as once again the AARS saw "something" that the general public just has never seen. This is a rose that, being honest, probably should have never left the seed bed as it "reads" like a "promising" seedling but something is just lacking. The bloom CAN have exhibition form: but there are too few petals, the blooms are erratic in size with some HT size and some very small............it doesn't cluster enough to be a GR or a FL, it is wirey, lankey, THIN..................delicate to use a "nice" term. It can get tall for sure. The color is darkish pink. In sum: this is pretty much what every hybridizer, amateur or professional, sees ad naseum every winter when the seedlings first bloom. Nothing about this one is AWFUL. Yet anything GOOD about it has some "qualification" as a "bonus." It actually reads like a 1950's rose, it really does, for anyone aware of history, First Love x Charlotte Armstrong --THAT is what THIS looks like! Again, 25 years old and basically unloved and nearly obsolete and honestly? Deserves to be. Just lacking in so much..................
