Redgold (Dickson, 1971)
Redgold was an All-American Rose Selection for 1971. The red color of the petal tips does not develop unless the flowers are exposed to strong sunlight. The cut flowers have a long vase life. Flowers 2½-3 in.(6-7.5 cm) wide. Yellow, edged with red. Double; 25-30 petals. Good mideseason bloom, with fair repeat later in the season. Slight fruity fraagrance. Hybrid tea form, opening to cup hape; blooms singly and in clusters. Foliage 3-3½ ft. )90-105 cm) tall. Upright, vigorous, well branched. Disease resistant and winter hardy. Canes very thorny. Leaves medium green, semiglossy and rather sparse.

David Ruston, South Australia. Roses of Distinction.
'Redgold', too, is a unique variety - the blending of red and gold in the buds is most spectacular and this coupled with a huge bush and wonderful production gives us a really good floribunda. 'Redgold' fades to a soft red-gold colour and this distinguishes it from 'Charleston', which is equally good and just as showy in the bud but it changes to a deep red colour as it ages.

Redgold This Floribunda was originated by Alex Dickson and Sons and introduced by the Jackson and Perkins Co., Medford, Oregon. Parentage is [('Karl Herbst x 'Masquerade') x 'Faust'] x 'Piccadilly'.  The chrome-yellow, pointed buds open slowly to flowers of the same colour, gradually acquiring brick-red edges which darken as the flower becomes fully open. The blooms may be borne singly or in clusters, with very attractive, individual 2-inch flowers, having their outer petals slightly frilled and full centers like small tea roses. The roses last a long time on the plant, and as an additional bonus, have a slight, delicate fragrance. The plant averages about 2 feet in height, is upright and bushy, well covered with bright green foliage. This is one of the 1971 All-America Rose Selections.
