About four years old here; this bloom from July 2022. Own root from Rogue Valley Roses. Virtually thornless; have seen occasional prickles on vigorous new basal growth near the crown. Incredible fragrance in the blooms, and the plant has that black pepper fragrance when handled (especially new growth). Does black spot readily; seems mostly unaffected. Very winter hardy. Zero die-back in three winters. Rebloom improves with maturity. My first rebloom happened fall of 2022. Tends to set more buds than it can support and they will abort. Zero die-back in three winters. Picks up incredible royal purple, slate, mauve, and even bluish notes before petal fall. One of the bluest roses in my garden in the soft morning and dusky evening light. Sometimes blooms are disappointingly pink. Rebloom improves with maturity. My first rebloom happened fall of 2022. Tends to set more buds than it can support and they will abort. No chlorosis noted so far. Z5b/Sunset 41 South Central Michigan
