The color of this red would not be considered a dark red according to today's standards, but back when it was introduced, it would have. Also, I have found that certain colors, red and purples especially, are extremely difficult to capture on camera for most people. To my eyes, the reds usually end up being more pink and purples tend to be more red or pink.
Whatever the color of Scarlet Sensation is called, it is still a very lovely rose to grow.

The description says "dark red", but my specimen and all the pix show it to be deep pink.

The 2006 Vintage reference says "rose red" and I am thinking this might be the more accurate colour description.
