Origin:
Bred by Bourduge (France, before 1820).
Introduced in France by Jean-Pierre Vibert in circa 1820 as 'Bourduge'.
Class:
China / Bengale.  
Bloom:
Crimson to purple, darker edges.  Small, very double bloom form.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Notes:
Vibert does not claim 'Bengale Bourduge' to be his cultivar. A M. Bourduge, collector of engravings, ivories, valuables died in 1815.
