'Soaring Wings' rose References
Newsletter (Nov 2017) Page(s) 12. Includes photo(s). ‘Soaring Wings’ (KORwings - 1979). ‘Soaring Wings’ as bred by Reimer Kordes in Germany. It was selected from a range of novelty roses by ROSA and named for South African Airways in appreciation of their invaluable assistance with the organizing of the Convention. To identify this rose with SAA, the colour had to be orange and the opening of the petals had to give the impression of the soaring wings of an aeroplane.

Book (1990) Page(s) 64. Ted Phillips, Rosanna, Victoria. Some of the Darker Reds and Others. Soaring Wings In the same colour group as 'Folklore'. Makes an attractive plant which flowers very late in the spring and is difficult to time for autumn shows. Carries plenty of flowers, but many are ugly as they are bull nosed and very ragged in outline. Although one may occasionally get a very good specimen bloom it is unlikely to make a great bunch.

Well formed blooms of 35 or so recurving petals, a light fragrance, and abundant bloom. This is another variety which throws quite a few multiple heads.
