Bourbon. Malmaison rouge (Gonod 1882). Medium size, velvety red shaded. The breeder says this rose is a sport of the variety Souvenir de la Malmaison. Foliage and prickles are the same, also the blooming perios, only the colour is a glowing red. Valuable sort for cut flowers. She is a beautiful contrast to Souvenir de la Malmaison. Effectful for groups, excellent as autumn-bloomer from end of September to end of November. - Estra good, early forcing rose, popular in America.

Gonod comes out with a red Souvenir de la Malmaison, called Malmaison Rouge, and is a sport from the well known Souvenir. The flower is medium in size, and deep velvety red in color.
