Tam o'Shanter appears in one of his best loved poems, in which he has a lucky escape from the witches, having stayed too long at the inn on market day. Cerise pink semi-double blooms with a light fruity fragrance, that develop into attractive mauve shades with gold yellow stamens at the heart. 'Tam o'Shanter' forms a large shrub ideal for the back of a mixed border or for less formal parts of the garden. If not dead-headed the flowers will produce rounded hips. These should be removed to encourage the best repeat flowering
