‘Belle Isis’ = Gallique… feuillage clair, gris-vert… gros boutons striés de carmin qui s’ouvrent sur des fleurs rose carné très doubles, s’épanouissant lentement pour révéler un cœur nacré. Leur parfum de myrrhe est saisissant… Parmentier, Belgique, 1845. Sans doute Rosa gallica x Rosa x centifolia.

Belle Isis Gallica. Parementier (Belgium) 1845... It was obtained by Louis Parmentier, brother of the horticulturalist Joseph Parmentier, caretaker of the Arenberg estate in Enghien, Belgium. Prior to this, Parmentier has raised another gallica called 'Isis' and the existence of these two roses may explain some of the disparities in older descriptions.
