No dog who is called Monty will soon be crossing the rainbow bridge and I'm desperately trying to find somewhere I can buy a Monty's Joy/WelMonty rose ready for his ashes. Can anyone help with a distributor please?	REPLY

The description in the American Rose Magazine January 2009 for Baldo Villegas/WELvill is for a mauve to pinkish rose 3.25".

In the July issue page 75 there is a correction. Baldo Villegas/WELvill was changed to WELmonty/Monty's Joy.

If you look up about 5 roses you will see WELvill 0604/Baldo Villegas and the description is white with red edges 2.75".

They are two different roses. The picture you have is of Baldo Villegas exhibition name but the description starts out as Baldo but ends with Monty's Joy.

It's still wrong on the site. Monty's Joy is a different rose altogether from Baldo Villegas. The pictures posted under this name are both Baldo Villegas, i.e. white with red edges. Monty's Joy is light mauve. Correct pictures of both are here: http://www.twosistersroses.com/whitwells.html

I am not sure, however, which of them is correctly denoted WELvill. But certainly not both of them. Anyone know?

You might want to check the REFERENCES tab. A correction was published by the ARS changing both the registration name and the exhibition name. It appears they did not recognized that this was two different roses. Lyn	REPLY

This has gotten very confused, Lyn. As I understand it, the rose now known as Baldo Villegas was known originally as Monty's Joy. But, apparently with Baldo's urging, Whit Wells simply switched the names. What is marketed now as Monty's Joy (light mauve) is a different rose than what is marketed now as Baldo Villegas (red/white).	REPLY

I guess this is something to take up with the ARS. I am guessing the second rose needs to be registered and another correction published. I wish there were a better answer, but it is not HMF's role to make these corrections. However, if you can get some documentation for us to use, we'll be happy to make any changes. Lyn	REPLY

According to the ICRA: Monty's Joy/ 'Welmonty'/mauve blend miniflora (mauve to pink, reverse mauve-yellow) was originally registered as 'Welvill', Baldo Villegas. Baldo Villegas/'Welvill 0604'/white miniflora with red edge is a different rose.	REPLY
