This is my 4-year-old 'DLFED 3' -- it's the tall, arching plant in the black resin barrel. I basically leave it alone for Spring, just snipping off the odd dead tip, and it fills itself with blooms. After the last hip starts forming, I prune it harder, and again leave it alone. Doing so gets me a bit of scattered repeat bloom, and the new growth that follows is trained but not pruned until after the first flush the following year.
