'W. G. Judd' may have been an early Australian rose. Only two (1912 and 1913) references have been found. However, there are local Council references to a Mr. W. G. Judd and this may have been the person for whom the crimson hybrid perpetual was named. From the History of the Rockdale [NSW] City Council. 1889 The opening of P J Moore's Moorefield Racecourse prompts local entrepreneur Thomas Saywell to open Brighton Racecourse. Council decides to establish a free library. The Mayor, Alderman W G Judd, buys some of Sir Henry Parkes' collection of books (up for sale at Angus & Robertson's), and appoints the Town Hall caretaker, also the Inspector of Nuisances, the librarian!
From the Sutherland [NSW] Centenary publications there was mention of a Mr. W. G. Judd who was the first Shire President of the Sutherland Shire Council from 1906 to 1910.
