Habit:

Tall, arching, armed with thorns / prickles, upright.

Height: 5' to 7' (150 to 215cm). Width: 5' to 8' (150 to 245cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 5a and warmer. Very vigorous. flowers drop off cleanly. heat tolerant. prefers full sun. produces decorative hips. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Needs little care; relatively disease-free and quite hardy. Prune lightly or not at all.

Breeder's notes:

One of the first fully remontant seedlings obtained from Kim Rupert's R. fedtschenkoana cross. This is a wildly unique shrub, with tall, semi-arching canes and startling vigor. It is currently being used in breeding, as are several of its siblings. Presumed tetraploid.

In 2011 the plant is showing sings of being nearly everblooming. The first flush is spectacular, with copious bloom for weeks and scattered bloom following immediately. Seed set is remarkable. I am evaluating the first hybrids from this seedling and most have inherited matte blue-green foliage, which, in some, is reminiscent of R. glauca. Pollen from this can be made available to other hybridizers upon request.
