This rose was grown from a seed from Abraham Darby sometime in early 2000s by my mother Lorna Hodges (1927-2006). She subsequently took it to Kurinda rose nursery in Victoria Aust. where Stan Nieuwesteeg grafted it for her. Grows beautifully here on our property next door to where it was first raised

I had a private email on November 30, 2010 which mentioned ".....Marilyn Thomas (we grow a rose called Crinoline Lady, found under her Abraham Darby and it's a beauty)....". Do you know Marilyn? Perhaps you could enlighten us further on how 'Crinoline Lady' came to be. Any references or knowledge of who renamed it 'Memories of You' would be good also. Thanks ozkoala.

I have no idea who Marilyn Thomas is! Stan Nieuwesteeg named it “Memories of You” but also considered “Crinoline Lady” for it. No idea why it was changed, “Memories of You” is the correct name. My mum hybridised many plants and also has an iris registered. I’m feeling a bit miffed if someone else is taking credit. ????It definitely wasn't “found” under Abraham Darby, but grown from a hip selected from her bush. Stan can corroborate. Here’s a link to his nursery. https://www.google.com.au/search?source=hp&ei=huIEXKqQFNSm9QPT-IawAw&q=kurinda+rose+nursery&oq=kurinda&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-hp.1.0.0l2j0i10l2j46i10.3032.4795..6290...0.0..0.238.1406.0j4j3......0....1.......3..5j41j46j0i131j46i131.WfA8X3N2qjY#trex=m_t:lcl_akp,rc_f:nav,rc_ludocids:11182202733220962817,rc_q:Kurinda%2520Rose%2520Nursery,ru_q:Kurinda%2520Rose%2520Nursery

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention ozkoala. We think we’ve got it straight now. (Just for the record, emails just in to me say that Marilyn Thomas was the lady who came up with the suggestion of ‘Crinoline Lady’ as a name.)

Thank you so much for correcting that information. Here is the bush from my mother's garden, moved several times until I established a new rose garden. Sits nice with a backdrop of crambe.
