Origin:
Bred by John Williams (1820s) (United Kingdom, 1820).
Class:
Hybrid Spinosissima, Shrub, Species Cross.  
Bloom:
Butter-yellow, green pointel.  Mild fragrance.  Average diameter 2".  Small, double (17-25 petals), cupped, globular bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:

Height: 4' (120cm).  Width: 4' (120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Produces decorative hips.  shade tolerant.  Do not prune.  Resist the urge to prune this rose too heavily -- it doesn't like it!.

The Swedish Rose Society recommends Williams' Double Yellow for northern Sweden.


Dag from Norway says this rose is called 'Namdalsrosen' there. In Finland, the found rose "Kaisaniemi" (KESKAS-857) was identified as 'William's Double Yellow'.
