Bred by Henry H. Marshall (Canada, 1981).

Class:

Shrub. (Series: Parkland Series Collection)

Bloom:

Deep pink, red shading. Mild, tea fragrance. 22 petals. Medium, double (17-25 petals), cupped bloom form. Occasional repeat later in the season.

Habit:

Bushy, upright. Matte, medium green foliage.

Height: 30" (75cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 2b and warmer. Very hardy. heat tolerant. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .

The new variety is a complex hybrid that was developed from the Rosa arkansana hybrids Morden Cardinette and Cuthbert Grant, and Prairie Princess.

Notes:

In September 1998, the Montreal Botanical Garden (Le Jardin Botanique de Montreal) carried out a survey of its roses' resistance to black spot, powdery mildew and rust. This is one of the outstanding varieties which showed a 0% to 5% infection rate. The data were taken on well-established roses.

Henry Marshall was the breeder at Morden through the 1981 breeding season. He retired 15 Sept 1981.
