...probably the most valuable Thing in Alupka are two roses breed by Nicholas von Gartvis, director of the Nikita Garden. Year bred - 1833. One is supposedly called 'Belle de Nikita'...It is located on the lower terrace under the retaining wall on the south side - the same place as 'Président de Seze'. This is a climbing China variety with the scent of tea rose. However, the factual accuracy that this is the Beauty of Nikita cannot be determined with precision. The description of the rose by Gartvis and the pre-war arrival of the variety in Alupka in the Nikita garden gives us reason to assert this.
