'Tropical Delight' ' (Norcontesse) Johnstone 2004. Floribunda. Reports 31. Plants 90. Garden 7.8. Exhibition 7.3. Height medium. Health very good. Fragrance some. 'Tropical Delight', also known as 'Lady Contesse' has bicoloured blooms of raspberry red and creamy yellow that make an attractive show. A great garden rose with large clusters of flowers which repeat quickly. Plants are very healthy with a slightly spreading habit. For best results plants should not be pruned too heavily.

'Tropical Delight' (aka Lady Contesse) (NORcontesse) Johnstone 2004. 5 Reports: 18 Plants: Garden 8.1, Exhibition 7.9: Short/Medium: Health 7.7: Fragrance 4.2: Blooms are combination of raspberry red and creamy yellow. Northland: Looks good in bowls and vases, makes great show of cream edged red flowers, short stems, healthy bushy plant. Franklin: Most healthy plant in garden, good repeat. Manawatu: Fades a bit, splendid for large stems until stamens deteriorate, expect a lot from this rose. Lower Hutt: Wonderful healthy floribunda.

Northland: Very healthy, quick repeat, great for floral art, bowls/vases, and perhaps large stems, lovely colour combination. Franklin: Large heads of flowers, repeats well. Manawatu: Like an improved 'Strawberry Ice', flowers ideal size large stems each with perfect spacing, flowers in flushes, good average health.

Te Awamutu: lovely colour, good large blooms in spring. Manawatu: an improved 'Strawberry Ice', highly promising, show as large stems.

The Silver Star of the City of Palmerston North for the highest pointed rose bred by an amateur went to Johnny Johnstone, of Whangarei, for 'Tropical Delight' (NORcontesse). A yellow/red blend floribunda - quite eye catching and stylish. Unable to be present, Johnny's award has since been presented to him at a local Northland meeting.
