Nola Simpson. Final Analysis 1996-97.
'English Lavender'. Breeder Unknown; deep lavender with red edge; 17 reports on 17 plants; 45 cms; 6.8 rating. This one is best described as a miniature 'Paradise', it has very good exhibition shape but rather too large for the stems trying to support it. It is something a bit different and a much deeper colour than 'Orchid Lace'. It is healthy enough, but repeat of blooms is very slow. Northland growers say not doing well up there, and a reporter from South Canterbury finds it useful to mix with other mauves in bowls etc..
Book  (1996)  Page(s) 96.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season. Miniatures/Patios.
'English Lavender'. Breeder Unknown; deep mauve with red edge; 5 reports on 5 plants; 3-5 years; 40cms; 6.4 rating. Combined results over two years, not a lot to enthuse about. It is best described as a miniature 'Paradise', has a good exhibition shape, but too large for my liking and for the stems that support it, healthy enough, but rather coarse. Northland says it has not done very well this year. South Canterbury thinks it blends with other mauve mins in a bowl quite well; it is a much deeper colour than 'Orchid Lace'. Something a bit different.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1994-1995 Season
'English Lavender' Breeder Unknown; deep mauve with red edge; 3 reports on 3 plants; 1-4 years; 40cms; no rating - too few reports. Only 3 reports this year from South Canterbury comes the comment that it looks a dirty colour beside 'Orchid Lace' and 'Moon River' which are better. a Manawatu grower likes it and says it is like a mini 'Paradise' and has good exhibition shape. There seems to be a proliferation of mauve miniatures/patios in recent times, no doubt most of them will disappear in due course.
