This rose was certainly bred earlier than 1932, year of death of the breeder, Enrico Rossi Conte di Montelera husband of Lydia.

Lydia was a daughter of Amalia Cerutti and Napoleone Leumann, a swiss textile magnate with cotton mills near Turin. In 1899 she married Conte Ernesto Rossi di Montelera, owner with the brothers of the liquor company Martini & Rossi. Another Lidia Rossi di Montelera exists (great granddaughter of the previous one) but she was born much later (1963) and her father Ernesto was born in 1938.
