Gerard Williams. Final Analysis 2000-2001
'Catherine Isobel' (SIMcath) Simpson 1994; 'Gipsy Moth' x 'Esmeralda'; pale mauve pink blooms; light green glossy foliage; 30 reports on 49 bushes; 1.1 metres; 7.8 rating. Again wide reporting. A number of reporters say the bushes take a while to get established and are better with light pruning. Excellent exhibition blooms that last. This is a high rating rose and if you are a keen exhibitor it should be well up on your list.

Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1999-2000 Season
'Catherine Isobel' (SIMcath); Simpson; 'Gipsy Moth' x 'Esmeralda'; pale mauve/pink; light green glossy foliage; 6 reports on 8 bushes; 1.2 metres; 7.6 rating. Manawatu says it takes time to establish and has few basal shoots, but the growth is upright and the form wonderful - just love it! Northland says prune it gently. Franklin found their bushes slow to get going, but the good exhibitions blooms worth the wait. Waikato said the true exhibition blooms were a little on the small side, but were promising. Another Northland grower says lovely exhibition blooms with stunning colour. Needs light pruning. Blooms good for the show and they hold well.

Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1998-99 Season.
'Catherine Isobel' (SIMcath) Simpson 1994; 'Gipsy Moth' x 'Esmeralda'; pale mauve pink; 3 reports on 6 bushes this year; 2-7 years; 7.8 rating. Reports are all good and all indicate that the bush may take a little time to establish, so don't be impatient. Excellent form says Marlborough. Franklin says the blooms have excellent exhibition form which they hold for a long time. Northland says lovely colour but prune lightly to get the plant going. Beautiful exhibition says Manawatu and one of my favourites. At its average height of 1.3 metres it would seem to be a medium grower with attractive glossy green ribbed foliage. And as its parentage suggest it makes an outstanding exhibition bloom for the show benches.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1997-98 Season.
'Catherine Isobel' (SIMcath); Simpson 1994; 'Gypsy Moth' x 'Esmeralda'; pale mauve pink; 6 reports 13 plants; 1-8 years; 1.1 metres; 7.8 rating. A good spread of reports on this exhibition rose and most are complimentary. Franklin says the lavender pink blooms have beautiful exhibition form and they hold their form a long time, the repeat is good but it takes time to establish. Northland thinks the colour is lovely and a new bush is growing better this year. Marlborough says nice exhibition pink with very good form. Manawatu indicates it has brilliant form, shortish grower and has attractive well placed glossy green ribbed foliage, prune lightly. Another report from Manawatu says it is a medium grower, the exhibition form is its best attribute, blooms hold exceptionally well but rain will mark the petals.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1996-97 Season.
'Catherine Isobel' (SIMcath); Simpson 1994; 'Gypsy Moth' x 'Esmeralda'; pale mauve pink; 7 reports 10 plants; 1-4 years; 1.1 metres; 7.6 rating. A good spread of reports this year and most are pleased except from Northland, where plants are not growing satisfactorily or doing well. Bay of Plenty likes it at all stages, healthy, repeat average, large exhibition blooms, some fragrance. Marlborough likes, healthy, exhibition blooms, a report from Manawatu says it has the right curves and the blooms hold well. A Franklin report extols the light lavender pink exhibition blooms, holds well and says there is no blowing or fading with this one, strong bushy grower with attractive glossy lightish green ribbed foliage. Hutt Valley says nice exhibition shape, healthy but repeat slow and not enough blooms.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season.
'Catherine Isobel' (SIMcath); Simpson 1994; 'Gypsy Moth' x 'Esmeralda'; pale mauve pink; 4 reports 7 plants; 1-2 years; 1.1 metres; no rating - too few reports. Only a few reports and not enough to get a rating, but have included it as a promising exhibition rose. A Franklin report states classical exhibition which holds its form for days, bushes are strong with a bushy growth habit and glossy ribbed foliage which is very healthy so far. From Marlborough good bush, excellent pink colour and very good exhibition. From Manawatu lovely exhibition which holds well for days, compact bushy growth habit, well balanced glossy green foliage, the rain can spoil the blooms if un-protected. All ratings 8 or better.
