Nola Simpson. Final Analysis 1996-97.
'Cheeky' (SIMche). Simpson 1990. 'Toy Clown' x Seedling; white edged red; 14 reports on 27 plants; 40cms; 7.6 rating. This little fellow has not been grown or reported on by many, but those who grow it mostly seem to like it. Small healthy shiny foliage on bushy plants with semi-double white to cream blooms edged deep pink to red, with colour intensity increasing as flower ages. It is an excellent little rose in the garden or container, as it is always in flower and repeats well. Blooms usually come singly or small stems, it makes a lot of basal growth and, as one reporter said, you can make several plants out of one in no time at all. A traditional miniature not in favour with most these days as 'big has become beautiful' with the majority. It depends what you like.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season.
'Cheeky' (SIMche); Simpson 1990; 'Toy Clown' x Seedling; white edged red; 7 reports on 12 bushes; 1-8 years; 40cms; 7.4 rating. A true miniature rose which is quite popular with most that grow it, small healthy shiny foliage on bushy plants with semi-double white to cream blooms edged deep pink to red with colour intensity increasing as the blooms age. From Franklin white edged deep pink open blooms cover bush and always looks bright, healthy, compact and repeats well. Northland says she has seen better, and a Sanson grower says it is one of her favourites, always in flower, heaps of basals and you can make several plants out of one in no time at all. A Manawatu report says it is bright and cheerful, true miniature, very free flowering, blooms usually singly or small stems, good in garden.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1994-1995 Season
Miniatures/Patios. 'Cheeky'. (SIMche); Simpson 1990; 'Toy Clown' x Seedling; white edged red; 3 reports on 6 bushes; 1-4 years; 35cms; no rating - too few reports. Not many reports but have included it as it is a little bit different and is a true miniature as opposed to most of the big ungainly jobs available today. Upright growth habit with dark foliage, the flowers are semi-double, creamy white with a strawberry red edge and slightly frilled. Very free flowering and bright and colourful in the garden. No health problems and the glossy foliage is small in keeping with the flowers.
