At present the Rose firm of the Giacomasso Brothers in Turin have a very fine collections of Italian Roses all from Aicardi or their own hybridizations..... Principe di Piemonte is a rich, fragrant red, and a small flower, but brilliant true red is Ardea.

This year I decided I must have some new roses and ordered about 20 Italian varieties; they were from Aicardi... or from Giacomasso ... There were two very good red roses: Principe di Piemonte, a fine deep fragrant red, and Ardea, rather small, very free, almost the brightest red I have seen; a pure color, whose one defect is lack of fragrance.
