Bred by Hermann Laurentius (Germany, before 1859).
Introduced in Germany by Laurentius'sche Gärtnerei in 1859 as 'L'Elégante'.
Class:
Climber.  
Bloom:
Cherry-red.  Semi-double (9-16 petals), in large clusters bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Climbing.
