p86 Frank Penn: Another of Mr. Mason's productions is a sport from Mrs. Sam McGredy - a much bolder flower and a stronger growing plant in Auckland district. The blooms of this rose (aptly named 'Frank Mason') have attracted considerable attention from rosarians in Auckland).

p87 ibid. By the way, a sport grown by Frank Mason of Feilding, and bearing his name, is doing nicely. A particularly nice specimen was among roses in a display by Mrs. Willis at the Bulls Show. We were informed that had it been on show competitive benches it would certainly have been champion rose. It is of good shape and a lovely colouring; a sport of 'Mrs. Sam McGredy'.
