From the pictures here on HMF it looks much more like a hybrid multiflora than a cross gallica × complicata. Since I'm going to Sangerhausen in a few days I will try to go check it, especially the stipules which are usually a good indication on a possible multiflora lineage, and post pictures.

Great! Lens used R. multiflora as seed or pollen parent on a number of roses ('Rush', 'Schubert', Sourire d'Antan', 'View' and 'Vivaldi'). It might be useful to check if Sangerhausen has these.
