For anyone who is considering this rose for a shady spot mine was accidentally planted in a full shaded spot in the garden and does great. I realized I need to move it once spring came and I saw it was in such a shady area (planted late fall at our new house at the base of a wisteria, not realizing at the time just how dense wisteria is and how shaded that spot would be). I haven't had a chance to move it yet, but it's been there for a full growing season and I was amazed. It gave us several nice flushes. To be clear: it doesn't bloom even half as much as it did in full sun at our old house, but considering it gets 0 sun not even dappled I'm impressed because in the flushes we get about probably 10 or so blooms on it. I'm sure in a part shade spot it would do a lot better. And a testament to it's disease resistance it never has any black spot or mildew even though we're in a wet climate and it doesn't get any sun to dry it off

Here it says that it gets 4 ft tall but on a rose growers site it states that Celestial Night is 6-7 ft tall. Anyone have personal experience with growing this can provide some insight?
I'm in Pasadena, CA where roses grow big.

Mine has, so far, remained smaller than e. g. Dark Desire, or Carefree Beauty, by way of example, and more on par with Julia Child. My soil, however, stays a little on the dry side, and this Rose and J. C. are grafted whereas the other two are own root. That could account for some of the difference. I would be surprised if mine gets taller than 4 feet.
