Responding further to HubertG in 'White Maman Cochet' comments.

To ensure we don't lose this piece of information, I have opened this file for 'Pastor Kromer's Yellow Sport of White Maman Cochet'.
If ever we find more information on its identification, we can merge the files.
I note the wording is "has in his possession". There are four possibilities that I can see:
1896 'Gelbe Cochet' (no parentage known)
1907 'Helen Good' (sport of Maman Cochet)
1909 'Alexander Hill Gray' (no parentage known)
1912 'Rathbel Dufios' (issue of Maman Cochet')

Patricia, thanks for the new entry ...
"besitzt" literally means 'owns' or 'possesses' but I translated it as 'has in his possession' because I felt it would be the best English translation to cover the somewhat ambiguous case of whether Pastor Kromer discovered the sport or not. The initials 'P.L.' at the of the passage I assume is Peter Lambert the editor of the Rosen-Zeitung. If this sport was already a commercially introduced variety he would probably have known about it already. I certainly received the impression that it was Kromer's own sport, but I'll look for references in earlier volumes of those roses you mentioned.

Also if any native German speakers are reading this, I wouldn't mind some help with what "Herr Pfarrexpositus" actually is. I translated it as Pastor because that's the general idea, but I'm sure the position is more specific than this.
