Scarlet Hanabi is a sport of the great Fourth of July, introduced in 1999. I have grown 4th since its introduction. It has been my favorite rose for years. Scarlet Hanabi was discovered in 2019 when a spray completely lacking in stripes appeared. The white eye has remained. The plant of the sport is identical to that of the plant of origin. Resistance to powdery mildew and rust appears complete. A year later a pink sport with stripes appeared on another plant of 4th.
