For Candy Stripe the deep rose-pink buds are boldly slashed with blush-white, and open rather quickly as large, intensely fragrant flowers. growth is slightly above in height, the leaves matt green. the flowers are carried on long stems for cuttingand this is the best way to enjoy this rose, look a bit restless in the garden. It was introduced by the Conard-Pyle Company in 1963. Sport from Pink Peace Repeat Flowering, Fragrant

2010 ARS Handbook for roses has Candy Stripe rated at 6.4. I find it unstable in color, but a reasonable performer in the City of Reno Rose Garden. It's planted next to Pink Peace and sometimes it's difficult to tell the two apart.	REPLY

Does anyone have a Candy Stripe that actually has stripes? I've had two of these from different sources, and neither has had more than the occasional single stripe. The nurserywoman at the nursery where I bought the second of these confided to me that of the half dozen or so that were still in the nursery when they started flowering this year, only one had stripes. I have heard that this rose often reverts to its parent, Pink Peace. I'm wondering if the stripes are not actually the exception rather than the rule.
That said, stripes or no, this is a beautiful, fragrant rose worth having.

I grew Candy Stripe for nearly twenty years. Mine was a Week's bare root from a nursery which actually offered BARE root roses in boxes of saw dust. It had good striping, about seventy percent of the time, with the normal Pink Peace blooms the other time. Nothing you can do will cause the striping. It's up to the genetic instability of the rose. My only complaint was it has the same proclivity to rust as its parent.
