Is the spotting on the petals normal for this rose, or due to circumstances or sporting?

You mean envious or environmental by "env."? I had to think hard.... but guess environmental. So it normally doesn't occur?

I had not noticed them before you drew my attention to them. Yes, I think Salix is right to say that they are the result of some environmental or physiological factor. They're not rain drops because I photographed them during a long spell of dry weather. I'll leave the picture up for the time-being and take it down when someone posts some better ones. CQ-R.

Thank You. I would leave the photo's on HMF, to show, what they might look like. Rose-flowers are not always perfect, or a perfect match of each other. I like some variation, so every rose-flower is unique.... however evanescent!
