I also have Eden (and other roses.) I have found over the years that some years there is alot of blackspot and some years there is comparatively less. I used to think that I was a bad gardener if I had any blackspot -or aphids, japanese beetles, etc. What I have come to learn is that unless you plant is stressed, you don't have to do anything unless you are tryingto have "show roses". The only pests I worry about is Cane Borers-because they can kill the roots of the plants--and Rust. The treatment for these and for blackspot is the same: You must remove all diseased parts of the plant and dispose of the debris in the trash try not to let the diseased stuff touch the healthy parts of the plant while you work. Ideally, you don't even waht to let the bad branches fall on the ground near your plants. Then you dose the plant and with whatever remedy is called for (for blackspot it is sulfur spray). You watch the plant carefully as it grows and recover, promptly cutting off any new diseased leaves or shoots and continuing periodic dosing. I did engage in this behavior for the first few years but I found myself being more focused on worrying about irregularities and blemishes instead of enjoying the blooms. The only really important thing about treating blackspot is to promplty clean up all fallen rose leaves at the end of the growiing season so that the stuff doesnt have a head start for next year.
